Cool Crosses
A Message of Faith, Transformation, and Unexpected Beauty
“Mom, that’s a really cool cross.”
That’s what my daughter said one afternoon after coming home from school and seeing what I had just created. I had been doing some test firings in an old ceramic kiln using scraps of sea glass, broken bottles, and leftover glass from other projects — just experimenting. I didn’t intend to make a cross. But when I opened the kiln and saw the shape it had taken, I knew it was something special.
That was the beginning of Cool Crosses.
From Broken Glass to Sacred Art
Each Cool Cross is made from discarded sea glass, reclaimed bottle shards, or scrap glass that most would overlook or throw away. I gather, clean, and carefully arrange the pieces before slumping them in a kiln, where intense heat (over 1400°F) fuses them together.
Once cooled, I grind down any sharp edges, drill a hole, and attach a silver bail — creating a one-of-a-kind piece you can wear, hang, or gift.
No two are ever the same.
The Spiritual Message
These crosses represent transformation through faith.
Just like us, these pieces begin as broken, mismatched fragments.
But through the fire — through grace — they are made whole.
We may not always see the plan for our lives, but when we trust God, we are refined and reshaped. Each Cool Cross is a reminder that we are beautiful works of art in the hands of the Master Artist, the Creator of All.
My Offering
This work is my way of giving back — a form of prayer and purpose. I use my hands, my eyes, and my soul when I create. God gave me the gift of vision and creativity, and I return that gift by creating pieces that speak of redemption, healing, and hope.
Whether you are walking through grief, celebrating a milestone, or simply need a daily reminder of faith — I hope this cross brings you peace and encouragement.
